An intriguing evening of formal presentations, display of rare vintage tractors and machines and social chat.

The evening will cover the background to the development of the Ferguson system which transformed world agriculture, and which has been used on 85% of tractors produced in the world for the last 100 years.

.

Detail will be presented on the development of the now famous Belfast Plough, leading on to the Duplex Hitch which culminated in the Ferguson System that was first demonstrated on the unique Ferguson Black Tractor. The product development was only made possible by cooperation between Henry Ford and Harry Ferguson in the beginning and the engineering genius of Willie Sands.

The 3 speakers John Barron, Gerry Forde and Keith Bryan will be delighted to share their extensive knowledge of the evolution of this transformative technology which eventually reached mass production through the foresight and business acumen of Henry Ford.

.

On the night there will be a display of Fordson tractors with ploughs attached using the Duplex hitch. This will be a very rare opportunity for enthusiasts to witness this unique combination. There will be a selection of Fordson, Ferguson, Ford Ferguson, and Massey Ferguson tractors and of course Ferguson Brown and David Brown tractors which were also a very important part of the Ferguson story. The event will take place at the Farm, Grenagh, Co Cork on Saturday 16th of March. It will start with an exhibition of tractors and ploughs which will open at 6 pm followed by supper served at 7.30 with the formal presentations starting at 8 pm followed by a questions and answer session at 9.15. This will be followed by a social gathering in the bar.

.

This is a unique opportunity to see up close the evolution of something that we use every day, have taken for granted over the years and which has had a transformative effect on world agriculture and has made all our lives much easier.

There are a limited number of places available for the event.

Tickets are €20 including Supper.

Booking is essential by text only to Mick on 0862555310 or Wayne on 0868979734.
